Building Permit Services - January 2025

As of January 1, 2025, the Township of Amaranth will offer building permit services to residents, businesses and developers. The Township is pleased to offer these services through the Cloudpermit platform - an online system to apply for and track your building permits.
The Cloudpermit building permit system allows you to apply for and to see the status of your application anywhere, at any time. You can start an application and finish it later, and receive email updates on the status of your permit application. You can even request building inspections!

Purpose: A Land Evaluation and Area Review (LEAR) study has been initiated for the Township of Amaranth. A LEAR is a technical evaluation system developed by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) to identify prime agricultural lands for long-term protection. All lands outside of settlement areas in the Township of Amaranth have been considered in the LEAR. The results of the LEAR are intended to inform Township input in any future County level review of the agricultural land base.

Public Consultation Meeting: This Public Meeting is being held to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the preliminary LEAR mapping. A presentation by the Township’s consultant, MHBC Planning and DBH Soil Services, will be provided overviewing the LEAR methodology and preliminary mapping results followed by a question and comment period. This is an opportunity to understand the LEAR process and to apply local knowledge and comment to refine the preliminary LEAR mapping. It is anticipated that a second public meeting will be held in April 2025 to present the draft LEAR report and to review the recommended agricultural system mapping before a final recommendation is presented to Township Council.

Written comments are also invited and must be received by March 12th, 2025 to be considered in LEAR mapping updates.
