Credit Valley Conservation - UPDATE April 1 2023
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) advises that the Credit River watershed received 30-35 mm of rain during Friday March 31st and overnight thunderstorms. Also, the Environment of Canada is forecasting risk of thunderstorms this afternoon.
As a result, all rivers and creeks within CVC’s watershed are experiencing higher than normal flows and water levels. While no widespread flooding is occurring, water levels of the Lower Credit River and its major tributaries (West Credit River and Silver Creek) are continuing to rise. There is a possibility of flooding of flood-prone and low-lying areas. As a result, local streams and rivers could become dangerous, especially around culverts, bridges, and dams. People are warned to stay away from all watercourses and to keep children and pets away.
CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. The Watershed Conditions Statement for Flood Outlook will be in effect through Monday, April 3rd 2023, or until further notice.
