Collection & Use of Personal Information
The Township of Amaranth only collects as much personal information as is necessary to assist you in conducting business with the Township and to respond to requests. You can always choose to contact us through another method (e.g. via telephone, mail or in-person).
Personal information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily, usually through contacting us via email or submitting a form. The Township is the sole owner of the information collected through our website. We do not exchange, rent, sell, or otherwise disclose your personal information to any outside organization or person unless the disclosure is required by law. We have taken appropriate measures to protect and ensure the privacy of any personal information you provide. The Township is subject to the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection Act (MFIPPA).
Social Media Disclaimer
The Township of Amaranth welcomes constructive comments on any social media platform operated by the Township. Our social media sites are designed to promote matters of public interest to the Township, including its many residents, businesses and visitors. The Township reserves the right, but assumes no obligation, to remove comments that are negative, contain vulgar or offensive language, divulge personal or confidential information, contain solicitation and/or defamatory remarks or comments that target any group of individuals. The Township may also block users based on comments posted on the Township’s social media platforms.
Social media users are advised that all posts or comments by the public on a Township social media site are considered to be part of a public record as defined by section 27 of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Social media is not an official channel to address Council or provide comments to the Township. Social media users are encouraged to contact the Township Office directly to address complaints or concerns.
Cookies and Scripts
Internet ‘cookies,’ are small files that site visitors may choose to accept to download (an option within most internet browser settings). Cookies are intended to enrich a site visitors experience while browsing site content or when returning to the site an additional time. Some Township site content uses cookies or scripts to enhance the experience of site visitors. On-line Forms
Normal browsing of site content will not result in the disclosure of personal information. The Township may collect personal information through on-line forms and via email messages. When site visitors are presented with an option to complete an on-line form, a disclosure statement will be provided that describes the purpose for the collection of the information and its intended use. Only authorized personnel of the Township that need access to personal information collected using on-line forms are granted access.
